The 202 Stainless Steel Plate material has chromium, nickel, and manganese in its chemical composition. It has quite similar properties like that of the SUS 302 stainless steel, like the toughness of the grade at low temperature is quite good. The ASTM A240 UNS S20200 Plate material is also one of the most precipitate hardening grades, which possesses a good resistance to corrosion. They also come with increased toughness, hardness and strength.
The SS 202 Plate material also comes with high machinability. They can be easily machined in annealed conditions. In order to give heat treatment to the material, it is essential to soak it at 1038 degrees C for at least 30 mins and then cool it below the temperature of 16 degrees C for transformation to full martensite. The AISI 202 Plate material also possesses high weldability and that is why they can be welded using the common fusion and resistance methods. However, ensure not to join the plates with the oxyacetylene welding method, using AWS E/ER630 as the filler material.
